Takatack

Enabling Easy E-Commerce for Businesses

Originally known as Paywhere, Takatack Technologies was founded in 2009 by three friends from junior college, Dickson Gregory (a 2010 NUS graduate from the Faculty of Real Estate), Damian Chow and Vincent Lau (both NTU alumni). Focused on enabling businesses to sell online, Tackatack Technologies is the brainchild behind TackThis!, an e-commerce platform that enables companies to easily set up an online store with an integrated order fulfilment system that can be synchronised with popular marketplaces and social media channels. Other key offerings by the company include TackThis Concierge, which handles set-up, management and marketing support for businesses’ e-commerce stores, and Takatack, an aggregated online marketplace that provides customers with exciting deals and promotions.

The NUS Enterprise Incubator (NEI) served as an early champion of the company, helping Takatack secure the SGD $50,000 YES! Startup grant from SPRING and providing incubation space at the NUS Faculty of Engineering and Blk71. NEI also introduced the start-up to its mentor and angel investor, Dr Virginia Cha, whose network of VCs provided subsequent financing totaling approximately SGD $700,000.

Since then, Takatack Technologies has continued to grow from strength to strength, gaining more than 30,000 registered users and winning numerous awards, including “Best E-Commerce Technology Provider” at the Smart Asia Awards and the “Best SME Service” at the Asia Communication Awards. These awards have recognized Takatack’s dedication to e-commerce in Asia. In 2015, the company was acquired by Voyager Innovations, the digital arm of Philippine telco PLDT for a reported USD $5 million. As the company faces the future, the acquisition will help it to scale internationally.

“We want to stay true to our values and continue to provide convenience for businesses to venture into e-commerce through our solutions,” stated co-founder Dickson Gregory. “We are working on developing new products and services to provide further value to our customers.”
