NUS Venture Initiation Programme – Impact Track
A Helping Hand for Impact Entrepreneurs
The NUS Venture Initiation Programme (VIP) – Impact Track is a special track of the VIP initiative by NUS Enterprise. VIP-Impact Track funds entrepreneurial pursuits of innovative ideas that are focused on Environmental, Social and Sustainability-related (ESS) impact.
Applications are now open from now till end of day (23:59 SGT) 10 March 2024.
- Awarded projects should address problems in at least one of these impact areas – Environment, Social, Sustainability
- Successful projects receive an award of up to S$10,000, with awarded amount determined by the assessment panel.
- Up to 12 months to complete the project
- Additional benefits for awarded projects include:
- Access to NUS Enterprise entrepreneurial ecosystem
- Co-working or hot-desking spaces (subject to availability and approval)
- Mentoring and guidance for NUS students (subject to availability of mentors)
- Opportunities to participate in selected events and community activities organized by NUS ISI (Innovation with Societal Impact)
1. Applicants must be NUS student(s) or alumni (”NUS Affiliated Applicant”).
2. The project must

- be innovative
- address Environmental, Social or Sustainability-related issue(s)
- contribute to achieving at least one of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- demonstrate market potential
3. The project must not have obtained funding from any external party, including but not limited to government bodies, angel investors and/or venture capital funds.
4. The project must not be concurrently funded by another NUS Enterprise programme
1. The person submitting the VIP Impact Track application must be an NUS Affiliated Applicant ("Applicant")
2. Applicants must fill in the VIP Impact Track Application Form (see "Application and Enquiry" section below), and submit their pitch deck for review.
3. Applicants must comply with the following instructions pertaining to pitch decks.

- Be uploaded on Dropbox, Google Drive or other cloud storage service, with the download link included in the VIP Application Form. The deck should be in a format which can be downloaded for offline viewing.
- Must not exceed 8 slides (inclusive of the cover slide), otherwise the application will be rejected.
- Begin with a cover slide with a one-liner description of the Project
- Include the following in bullet points, which is also the criteria which the Project will be evaluated on (“Selection Criteria”):

- Impact What Environmental, Social or Sustainability-related (ESS) issue(s) does your Project address? What is the problem being tackled and how large is the problem? Why is it important to solve this problem? What is the potential impact your Project will create? Towards which UN SDG(s) does the project contribute?
- Unique Selling Proposition & Key Innovation What is innovative about your Project? What is unique about your Project’s approach to solving the ESS problem and creating impact? What compelling benefits do you offer that are currently not being offered in the market?
- Potential Addressable Market What/who is your target customer, beneficiaries, industry, market? What research have you done and what ideas/strategies do you have to capture the above?
- Competitive Analysis Who are your current and potential competitors? How do you differ from them and what competitive advantages do you have? Are there any barriers to entry?
- Team Elaborate on each of the team member’s background (academically and professionally). What are the previous accomplishments of the team? How will the team work together and contribute to the Project? Are there any missing pieces to the team?
- Validation Has the team done any validation to date? If so, what kind of validation has been done? If not, what kind of validation will the team do and what is the outcome to be achieved from the validation?
- Milestones What are the milestones for the first 6 months of your Project and the following 6 months thereafter?
- Usage of VIP Impact Track Award funds Please include a breakdown of how funds from the VIP Award will be used in line with the proposed milestones (e.g. spend how much on what and for what purpose). Please note Exclusion items for utilisation of Award funds in point 4 below.
4. Award funds from VIP Impact Track cannot be utilised for the following Exclusion items.

- Salaries for Project team members
- Entertainment & Refreshment
- Staff retreat and team-building activities
- Personal Devices unless otherwise approved (i.e. mobile phones, laptops, computers etc.)
- Overseas travel, unless essential to the success of the project and otherwise approved
5. Applicants must read and agree to the terms and conditions of the Personal Data Protection Notice by NUS Enterprise.
