According to StartupBlink’s Startup Ecosystem Index 2022, Singapore is the top-ranked ecosystem for start-ups in the Asia-Pacific region and ranked 7th globally. Strategically located, Singapore serves as the regional launchpad for expansion into the Asian market. With a strong talent base and business-friendly environment, Singapore is undoubtedly an attractive hub for start-ups. To date, there are 10 start-ups that have attained unicorn status in Singapore which include NOC alumni start-ups – Carousell and Patsnap. Other notable start-ups from NOC alumni that are making their mark include Augmentus (artificial intelligence), Blood (female technology) and Fossa Chocolate (food and beverage). The future is bright for Singapore’s start-up scene with continued government funding for digital transformation. Also, increased digitalisation and technological advancements are accelerating growth in emerging sectors such as financial technology (fintech) and health technology (healthtech). With climate change threatening our environment and disrupting food supply, Singapore aims to produce 30% of its nutritional needs locally by 2030. Start-ups that leverage on developments in agriculture technology (agritech) and clean technology (cleantech) will play a pivotal role in shaping a more sustainable future. What are you waiting for? Programme Structure Expand Students who embark on the programme can expect the following: Exciting 6-month internship at one of Singapore’s high-growth and innovative start-ups Learning about entrepreneurship through entrepreneurship-focused modules Networking with entrepreneurs, alumni and investors through activities and events Receiving mentorship and resources to test out your innovative ideas. Academic Details Expand From NOC AY2024/25 intake onwards The NOC Singapore (6-month) programme is credit bearing and students will receive up to 20 units. Financial Details Expand Students should expect to pay some amount out of their own pocket for the monthly expenses they would have incurred if they had remained in Singapore. This personal contribution plus the monthly stipend should be sufficient to cover the monthly cost of living overseas. Students continue to pay regular tuition fees to NUS for the duration of the programme, while programme costs will be borne by NOC. Personal expenditures are expected to vary, as it depends on the individual preferences and lifestyle. NUS Overseas Colleges will provide or cover the following: Tuition fees for approved entrepreneurship courses at the partner university (if applicable) Internship assessor appointed to supervise student on internship Start-up mentorship for student *NUS student travel insurance Students need to pay: ​Your regular tuition and other miscellaneous fees to NUS Additional expenses incurred for personal/recreational activities *All NUS students travelling overseas for activities or purposes approved, endorsed, organized, sponsored or authorised by NUS will be covered by the NUS Student Travel Insurance Policy.
