NOC internship courses to fulfil CDE / SOC Major Requirements

College of Design and Engineering (CDE) / School of Computing (SoC) students who are undertaking NOC internships (from NOC AY2014/15 Sem 2 intake and onwards) that are relevant to their discipline or major; involving intensive work (e.g. technical design, research, development, experimentation, etc) as well as analysing the viability of the product, idea or service, may apply and seek approval from your faculty and / or department to collectively use NOC internship Courses [i.e year-long: TR3201N/ETP3203L (8 Units), TR3202N / ETP3201L (12 Units) or ETP3206L (16 Units) & TR3203N/E/P / ETP3202L/E/P (8 Units)- up to 32 Units or short: TR3204S/T / ETP3204S (4 Units) and TR3202S/T / ETP3201S (12 Units – 16 Units] to fulfil the degree major requirements. Students are to check with their faculty / department for updated mapping approval.

For College of Design and Engineering (CDE) students, TR3202/ETP3201/ETP3206L is automatically mapped to EG3611A/EG3612 for Engineering programmes (prior to Cohort AY2021/2022) and TR3202/ETP3201/ETP3205/ETP3206L is automatically counted towards the internship requirement for Engineering programmes (for Cohort AY2021/2022 onwards).

Note:

  • Students who admitted in NUS cohort AY22/23 onwards, refer to ETPxxxx code.
  • With effect from NOC AY2024/25 intake, student under the year-long programme will be enrolled in NOC internship course - ETP3206L (16 units). Engineering students (from AY2021 intake and after) are not allowed to take more than 20 units of internship courses (10 units for Engineering major and 10 units as UE). Consequently, units from internship courses in excess of the 20-unit limit cannot be counted towards the minimum 160 units required for graduation, i.e. they will be counted on top and above the minimum 160 units required for graduation.
  • Engineering students (from AY2021 intake and after) under the year-long programme, if you are unsure whether the job scope is suitable for the mapping to the Integrated Project (8 units) [non-iDP] or EG4301A Ideas to Start-up (12 units) [iDP], you should consult your home department before accepting the internship position.

Note:

The mappings are only proposed mappings. Final mapping approval needs to be sought from respective department and will only be given if it meets the requirements set out by each department. Department may provide alternative mapping.

School of Computing students are required to undertake computing-related internships. This meant that internship must have components that are relevant to your degree programme. If the job is largely non-technical in nature (whereby a student from a different faculty could just as easily perform the role), then it will not be suitable.
