Can I go for Student Exchange Programme (SEP) before embarking on NOC programme? Expand Students must be in NUS, Singapore for the semester before embarking on NOC during the next semester and not overseas on Student Exchange Programme (SEP) because NOC will be conducting briefings, students need to apply for Visa in Singapore, etc. If you are embarking on the August intake, you will have to be present in Singapore (taking classes in NUS) for the semester from Jan to May before heading out to the respective overseas college at around late June/ in July or early Aug. Can I go for NOC programme if I am on scholarship? Expand Students on scholarships must check with their scholarship administrators or providers first on their eligibility to participate in the NOC before applying. Selected candidates will however only be permitted to embark on this programme after meeting the eligibility criteria. Can I file for graduation upon completing NOC programme? Expand No, all selected NOC students MUST have at least one remaining semester of study back in NUS upon completing NOC programme. Am I eligible to apply for NOC programme if I am a graduate student? Expand Graduate students (Master or PhD students) will be eligible to apply for NOC 6-month programme in Indonesia / Japan / The Greater Bay Area / Vietnam. I have sent in my application and would like to change my choice of college. Is that possible? Expand Please send your request to nocapplication@nus.edu.sg and subject to NOC’s review before any interviews. Are medical students allowed to apply for NOC programme? Expand Students from medical faculty will need to consult your faculty regarding your participation in NOC programme as you have an intensive medical curriculum and compulsory modules that you are required to fulfill within a specific number of years. Are students from Department of Pharmacy and Nursing allowed to apply for NOC programme? Expand Yes, students from Department of Pharmacy and Nursing can apply in their third year Semester 2. However, they are required to complete their third year of study before embarking on NOC programme i.e. student can only embark on NOC in their fourth year. Students are encourage to seek advice from their department before applying for NOC programme. About the Programme Where can I find the list of companies of the respective colleges? Expand The list of updated companies will be provided to students after you have been selected and only during the placement period to indicate your preference. Do I need to find my own internship company? Expand Respective NOC programme managers will source for the internship companies and arrange the interviews accordingly. However, if you have a company in mind, you can discuss it with the respective programme managers so that they could get in touch with the company on your behalf. How many Units do I need to accumulate before embarking on NOC programme? Expand Full Year Programme (1-year) Only for Undergraduate students and they should have completed at least 4 semesters of study and/or individually gained about 70 Units and above at the point of departure and MUST have at least one remaining semester of study upon return to NUS without exceeding their maximum candidature. For Poly students admitted to NUS, you can use your Advanced Units to count towards this 70 Units application requirements. Short Programme (6-month) Undergraduate students should have obtained about 70 Units and above at the point of departure and Graduate students should have completed at least one semester of studies at NUS at the point of departure. NOC Singapore (6-month) Students should have completed 2 semesters of study and/or individually gained about 40 Units and above before the start of the NOC programme. Note: All students on NOC programme MUST have at least one remaining semester of study on upon return to NUS without exceeding their maximum candidature. Can I use NOC internship to count towards my Industrial Attachment (IA)? Expand Yes, Students may count the NOC internship to their NUS degree requirement as approved by their respective faculty. Undergraduate students from CDE and SoC as well as CNM department can use NOC programme to fulfil their Industrial Attachment (IA) that is worth 12 Units. There could be other schools/ faculties or departments which offer internship course or IA which you can use NOC to fulfil your IA. Please do check with your department for possible mapping. Do I need to incur additional cost embarking on NOC programme? Expand Students should expect to pay some amount out of their own pocket for the monthly expenses they would have incurred if they had remained in Singapore. This personal contribution plus the monthly stipend should be sufficient to cover the monthly cost of living overseas. Students continue to pay regular tuition fees to NUS for the duration of the programme, while programme costs will be borne by NOC. Personal expenditures are expected to vary, as it depends on the individual preferences and lifestyle. NUS Overseas Colleges will cover the following cost: Tuition fees for approved entrepreneurship courses at some of the NOC Partner Universities (if applicable) Internship assessor appointed to supervise student on internship Start-up mentorship for student *NUS student travel insurance & iSOS Services Cost of visa application (may vary depending on the NOC location. Students may need to pay for visa application fee for certain locations) Basic medical checkup fee at UHC Note: If students withdraw from NOC before or during the programme, any incurred costs, NOC funding support and/or awards, or Singapore government financial support must be returned to NOC/NUS on a pro-rated basis, depending on the stage of withdrawal. Students need to pay: Your regular tuition and other miscellaneous fees to NUS Round trip air ticket Regular overseas living expenses Additional expenses incurred for personal/recreational activities Repeat or additional medical tests, consultations, medications, or other treatments at UHC *All NUS students travelling overseas for activities or purposes approved, endorsed, organized, sponsored or authorised by NUS will be covered by the NUS Student Travel Insurance Policy.
