We open applications for NOC twice a year - in April and October.

Students must be in NUS, Singapore for the semester before embarking on NOC during the next semester and not overseas on SEP because NOC will be conducting briefings, students need to apply for Visa in Singapore, etc. If you are embarking on the July intake, you will have to be present in Singapore (taking classes in NUS) for the semester from Jan to May before heading out to the respective overseas college at around late June/ in July or early Aug.
Students on scholarships must check with their scholarship administrators or providers first on their eligibility to participate in the NOC before applying. Selected candidates will however only be permitted to embark on this programme after meeting the eligibility criteria.
No, all selected NOC students MUST have at least one remaining semester of study back in NUS upon completing NOC programme.
Graduate students (Master or PhD students) will be eligible to apply for NOC 3-month (SEA only) or 6-month programme in Indonesia / Israel / Japan / Malaysia / Paris / Thailand / The Greater Bay Area / The Philippines / Vietnam.

Yes, NUS medical students will be eligible to apply for NOC short 2.5 to 3-month programme which is only applicable to NUS Medical students. Application will open around Oct period and students will embark on NOC from March the following year onwards and only 1 intake per year. To find out more, please watch out our e-flyer which will be sent to all medical students during our recruitment and application period.
Yes, students from Department of Pharmacy and Nursing can apply in their third year Semester 2. However, they are required to complete their third year of study before embarking on NOC programme i.e. student can only embark on NOC in their fourth year. Students are encourage to seek advice from their department before applying for NOC programme.
About the Programme
The list of updated companies will be provided to students after you have been selected and only during the placement period to indicate your preference.
Respective NOC programme managers will source for the internship companies and arrange the interviews accordingly. However, if you have a company in mind, you can discuss it with the respective programme managers so that they could get in touch with the company on your behalf.
Full Year Programme (1-year)
Only for Undergraduate students and they should have completed at least 4 semesters of study and/or individually gained about 70 Units and above at the point of departure and MUST have at least one remaining semester of study upon return to NUS without exceeding their maximum candidature. For Poly students admitted to NUS, you can use your Advanced Units to count towards this 70 Units application requirements.
Short Programme (6-month)
Undergraduate students should have obtained about 70 Units and above at the point of departure and Graduate students should have completed at least one semester of studies at NUS at the point of departure.
NOC Singapore (6-month)
Students should have completed 2 semesters of study and/or individually gained about 40 Units and above before the start of the NOC programme.
Note: All students on NOC programme MUST have at least one remaining semester of study on upon return to NUS without exceeding their maximum candidature.
Yes, Students may count the NOC internship to their NUS degree requirement as approved by their respective faculty.
Undergraduate students from CDE and SoC as well as CNM department can use NOC programme to fulfil their Industrial Attachment (IA) that is worth 12 modular credits. There could be other schools/ faculties or departments which offer internship course or IA which you can use NOC to fulfil your IA. Please do check with your department for possible mapping.
The NOC Programme is financially neutral. Students selected for the programme continue to pay regular tuition fees to NUS for the duration of the programme. At the same time, students are paid a monthly stipend by their internship company. Students however are expected to incur differing levels of personal monthly expenditure, depending on your destination, as costs of living differ across the respective colleges.
NUS Overseas Colleges will cover the following cost:
- Tuition fees for approved entrepreneurship courses at some of them NOC’ Partner Universities
- Consulting professors and mentors appointed to supervise student on internship and other NOC modules
- Travel grant given to students to cover basic medical and travel insurance, roundtrip economy air ticket, medical screening and visa application (this travel grant may vary based on the different NOC Locations. Some locations will not have this travel grant given to students.)
Students need to pay:
- Regular tuition fees and other miscellaneous fees to NUS
- Regular overseas living expenses
- Additional expenses incurred for interest/recreational activities
