Innovation for Impact Pledge (I2P)

I2P is a new initiative by NUS Enterprise aligned to the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility. We proudly showcase start-ups in the NUS community that demonstrate efforts to address environmental, sustainable and social (ESS) impacts and are committed to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Sustainable innovations: Designing systemic changes to reduce extraction of finite resources; and encourage resource renewal and regeneration in business practices.

Environmental Innovations: Focusing on the environment, this includes the development of smarter, cleaner technologies for environmental protection.

Social innovations: Focusing on people, this includes design and implementation of new solutions which ultimately aim to improve the welfare and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

Alpha Electrics

Alpha Electrics is building a sustainable EV ecosystem comprising of electric motorcycles running on a battery swapping system.This is done to improve receptivity and adoption rates of electric vehicles across Southeast Asia and the world.

BeeX

BeeX designs and manufactures the world's most advanced Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (HAUVs). Their vehicles, fully integrated with advanced reporting and analytical software tools, enable service providers to take men and women out of dangerous environments, reduce their carbon footprint, and create a sustainable way to differentiate without cutting corners.

BioChar Innovations

BioChar Innovations develops and commercialises high-quality biochar-based building and infrastructure materials with a vision to contribute to a zero-waste future through research and innovation.

Hydroleap

Hydroleap’s HL-ECM is a high-performance chemical-free, smart electrical treatment system that is designed to deliver automated, reliable and cost-effective treatment of run-off water from construction operations. This solution helps companies to cut costs, save manpower, and achieve their sustainability goals.

GO!Mama

GO!Mama provides solutions to overcome societal barriers, improve cultural perception, and provide environmental support for breastfeeding mothers. This includes a Lactation Pod system with a clean, private, and safe environment for mothers to breastfeed or express milk whenever and wherever needed.

HomeBase

HomeBase is a for entrepreneurs to operate their home-based business professionally and effectively. This is done via the HomeBase application that help business owners manage their finances and operational processes.

Indmira

Indmira is a technology-based company and has been conducting research and development to advance product and technology innovations in agrocomplex ecosystems (agriculture, forestry, livestock, and fishery) and environmental rehabilitation.

Insectta

Insectta is Singapore's first Black Soldier Fly biotech company, extracting high-value biomaterials for the pharmaceutical, bioelectronics, and personal wellness industries. Insectta marries Deep Tech with nature, harnessing the waste valorisation abilities of the black soldier fly to create sustainable, high-quality, and renewable materials for current and future generations.

NEU Battery Materials

NEU Battery Materials is a lithium close-loop recycling company for Lithium Ion Batteries, specifically for Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP). As EV adoption grows rapidly, raw materials are unable to keep up, putting a strain on our environment. This is achieved through novel recycling methods that are cost efficient and environmentally friendly.

LOTA+

LOTA+ develops low-cost, easy and quick-to-install sanitation products that aims to increase the equitable allocation of sanitation facilities to India’s rural poor. These solutions are based on the principles of circularity, resource recovery and addressing the needs of Base of Pyramid communities.

Lumitics

Lumitics’s smart food waste tracker Insight leverages sensors and a proprietary AI image recognition technology to weigh and identify how much and what type of waste restaurants and kitchens throw away.This helps the Hospitality industry to optimize production, preserve yield rates, purchase smarter and engineer better menus for customers.

Mycotech Lab (MYCL)

MYCL provides a high-performance and sustainable material through biotechnology for global market application, by empowering local communities. The affordable, environmentally-friendly, and recyclable material is made from agricultural waste, bonded together with mushroom mycelia.

reActo

reActo develops and engineers an advanced water treatment solution through the breakthrough technology of the electrochemical advanced oxidation process (EAOP).This is based on high performing 3D carbon electrodes coated with graphene, and is applicable to the petrochemical, pharmaceutical, F&B, textile and other industries.

RushOwl

RushOwl Singapore is the transport technology enabler for vehicles worldwide. RushOwl partners with fleet owners, smart cities and even governments to activate smart transportation networks for passenger transportation and logistics services. RushOwl’s clients include smart city operators such as JTC, SMRT, HDT Singapore (subsidiary of BYD).

Singrow

Singrow creates their own proprietary crop varieties that are more energy efficient, faster growing and tastefully delicious. This is achieved through the use of techniques such as marker-assisted cross breeding and advanced technology including CRISPR-Cas9.

Skilio

Skilio is a skills-based hiring platform that helps job seekers demonstrate skills that companies are looking for pre-application while enabling recruiters to hire quality talents fast.

SOLV8

SOLV8 develops sustainable and energy efficient solvent recovery solutions for industry application. This is achieved through novel membrane technology to recover high-purity solvents with high separation efficiency, enabling the solvents to be reused in the process. With this, SOLV8 strives to minimize the carbon footprint of separation processes by cutting energy consumption by ~90%.

Sustainable Living Lab (SL2)

SL2 is a sustainability consultancy and innovation lab that addresses the needs of the 3P (Public, Private & People) sector. Driven to advance economic, environmental and social sustainability, SL2 incorporates foresight, technology and community development approaches in their work. SL2 is currently working on the following issue areas: Technology Skills Gap, Corporate Sustainability Transition and Zero Waste.

Synectify

Synectify is creating a circular economy for renewable energy transition. This is achieved through innovation at the intersection of carbon markets, blockchain technology, and distributed computing.

Tech Prom Lab

Tech Prom Lab creates Poreblock, a porous concrete that allows water to infiltrate 1000x faster than a conventional paving block with a strength up to K-350 that can withstand 8-tonne trucks. Tech Prom Lab aims to solve the region’s urban flooding problems with nature-based solutions.

Timeliss

Timeliss is a late-life technology innovations company that brings health, wealth and legacy planning matters onto one platform, empowering people to prepare and provide peace of mind for their loved ones. These include guides, recommendations, memorials and planning tools.

Urban Origins

Urban Origins connects urban food producers to consumers and businesses with a food marketplace dedicated to food sourced locally and sustainably from within our urban communities. These include fresh urban farm produce, upcycled foods, alternative proteins, plant-based ingredients, and more.
