NEWS FROM THE SEA

PIER71 brings innovation to the maritime scene

Major news from the PIER71 community! 13 technology start-ups from the PIER71 Smart Port Challenge 2018 will be receiving S$650,000 in seed funding from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA),to develop and test-bed their innovative solutions for the maritime sector. This is part of the effort by MPA to position Singapore’s maritime sector for the future, and was announced during Singapore Maritime Week (SMW), held from 6 - 14 April 2019.

As part of SMW, PIER71 took part in Sea Asia 2019 from 9 - 11 April 2019, Asia's anchor maritime exhibition and conference, showcasing nine of the Smart Port Challenge 2018 finalists at the Innovation Arena — a collaboration with UBM and the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF). Five of the start-ups successfully ink partnerships to further develop their products and leverage on each other’s networks to expand their reach. On 12 April 2019, PIER71 helped to curate the programme for one of the four tracks at the Singapore Maritime Technology Conference 2019, which focused on the topic of “Collaborating with the Maritime Industry to create a vibrant maritime innovation ecosystem”.
