Choo Voon Yim

Voon Yim served as Director of North America Investments, EDB Ventures Management, from 2000 to 2006, where she sourced, evaluated and recommended new direct investments in mid- to later-stage private technology companies as well as selected VC funds.

Before the above tenure, Voon Yim also worked in EDB’s San Francisco and Chicago offices, managing investment promotion activities in Silicon Valley and Midwest United States. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from NUS and Nanyang Technology Institute, and earned a Master of Science, Electrical Engineering degree from Carnegie Mellon University under the EDB-Glaxo Scholarship programme.

At NUS Enterprise, Voon Yim helps to nurture and guide start-ups in exploring the US market. Concurrently, she mentors students who are undergoing internships with Silicon Valley start-ups under the NUS Overseas Colleges programme.

Edmund Yong

Edmund runs Accel-X, a venture capital fund that invests into early stage technology companies. With strong experience gained from holding senior management positions in both private and listed companies, Edmund also headed the successful Mobile Commerce Venture Fund which invested in China, Japan, Korea, Finland, Sweden and Singapore.  
At NUS Enterprise, Edmund takes great satisfaction in advising, nurturing and helping budding entrepreneurs to achieve their business goals.

Joe Rouse

Currently a venture partner at Get2Volume Accelerator, Joe has over 15 years of experience in technology business operations, investment and consulting.

In the past, Joe has held senior management roles with venture-backed start-ups, which include being Vice-President, Business Development/Chief Operating Officer of GridIron Software and Director of Marketing at Philsar Semiconductor. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences and MBA from Queen’s University at Kingston, Canada.

Besides mentoring start-ups and young entrepreneurs at NUS Enterprise, Joe also serves as an expert adviser to the New Zealand Ministry of Science and Innovation, as well as Commercialisation Australia. 

Kristav Childress

Kristav has worked with a number of different start-ups in the US and overseas in areas as diverse as laboratory equipment, software, clean technology and consultancy.

While his degree was in science, the bulk of Kristav’s career has spanned across business development, sales, marketing and product development. Since his arrival in Singapore, he has been a consultant for scalable, technology-based business start-ups.

At NUS Enterprise, Kristav mentors a wide range of start-ups and has helped several companies to win substantial grants or initial rounds of funding, all on top of assisting them in major pivots of their product offering or business concept. 

Loh Kean Chong

Kean Chong has more than 20 years of experience in business development, laboratory design & renovation, GMP manufacturing facility design, process development, biopharmaceutical manufacturing and validation for biotech and life science industries.

He has held senior positions in project management, process development, validation, GMP production and facility management in Singapore-based biopharmaceutical companies and research centres. Currently, Kean Chong provides consultancy services to a number of life science companies in Singapore and regionally, as well as in the US.

In his work with NUS Enterprise, Kean Chong scouts for potential industry technology seekers to support the institution’s efforts of engaging SMEs in technology innovation and promoting transfer of university technologies to SMEs. He also assists in patent reviews and provides advice to university staff on regulatory and business issues.  

Vincent Lauria

An entrepreneur cum venture capitalist, Vincent is managing partner at Golden Gate Ventures, and a fellow of the Kauffman Fellows Program. Previously, he built two start-ups in Silicon Valley and also founded the Silicon Valley NewTech Meetup, which has featured over 300 start-ups to a monthly audience with thousands of followers.

Vincent also spent four years of his career with IBM, helping to shape how the company was approaching social software for enterprise. He has published three books and spoken at a number of conferences around the world.
With NUS Enterprise, he thrives in the role of an active mentor and advisor to start-ups who benefit from his experience.

Virginia Cha

Virginia has over 28 years of executive and management experience in directly managing hi-tech private and entrepreneurial organisations in China, Singapore, and in the US. She spent 15 years holding many management positions in Unisys, and was the Executive Vice President for CyberCity Holdings and CEO of The 8th Network Corporation.

Virginia was also the CEO and co-founder of Singapore’s leading multi-lingual software company, a spin-off technology company from the Institute of Systems Science. The company was the first in the world to offer Unicode-based commercial products to process multi-lingual applications.

As a mentor with NUS Enterprise, Virginia is committed to nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs and start-ups, and help them make their mark in the world. 

Wong Toon Suan

Toon Suan has more than 35 years of experience in water-energy nexus and infrastructure, spanning across both private and public sectors.

Currently President of the Gas Association of Singapore and a member of the National Energy Standard Committee, Toon Suan was previously the Senior Vice President of the Singapore Power Group and a director at the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (MEWR)/Public Utilities Board (PUB). He graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Elect) from the University of Singapore and attended the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School.

As a mentor with NUS Enterprise, Toon Suan provides valuable advice in R&D strategy, IP review and management, while also establishing industry networking and guiding start-ups and spin-off companies with a focus in energy-water nexus.  

Florence Leong

Florence is Founder & Director of BioVation Management Pte Ltd, a boutique Professional Management Practice that bridge innovations to commercial success, facilitating smooth transition from science to profitability through providence of objective and focused strategic planning; and hands-on, action bias execution.

As an Executive Advisor at NUS Enterprise, Florence demonstrates her passion to harnass her decades of senior management experience in top pharmaceutical MNCs, life science venture capital investment, business mentoring and start-up management to build Singapore's bio/medtech start-up ecosystem into the growth engine for the next generation & beyond.

Giovanna Laudisio

As an Executive Advisor to NUS Enterprise based in the UK, Giovanna develops innovation partnerships between NUS and European Multinational Companies, SMEs and Research Institutions. She is the NUS Industry Liaison for two Innovation Clusters: START (Separation Technology Applied Research and Translation) and NAMIC (National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster). Giovanna is also a team advisor to the Lean Launchpad Singapore programme.

Ike Lee

Ike Lee is CEO of Lee Technology Consulting, which specialises in providing strategic management consulting, and mergers and acquisitions advisory services to industry leaders as well as start-up companies. In the past 25 years, Ike has spearheaded efforts advising joint venture and alliance partnerships worth several billion dollars between North America and Asia, as well as driving over $1B in M&A activities in the US and abroad.

He is an Executive Advisor with NUS Enterprise, and an Adjunct Professor with NUS.
