Two friends, Bryan Lee (NUS Business School) and Darrell Zhang (Faculty of Engineering) first encountered each other in 2008 in Fu Dan, Shanghai as part of the NUS Overseas Colleges (NOC) Programme. The experiential learning programme allowed them to gain entrepreneurial experience and at the same time provided opportunities to know each other better through working on projects and assignments. Upon graduation, the duo set up Intraix, a multi-platform energy management system with the aim of a simple, inexpensive solution to reduce energy consumption and provide better energy management.
The young company received hot-desking space and mentoring support through NUS Enterprise at Plug-in@Blk71 before moving to the premises at Pearl Hill’s Terrace. In May 2012, Intraix launched its first product, Intraix Home Energy Solution. This product helped Intraix reach several notable milestones in its start-up journey, including clinching a runner-up award at the Canon Young Entrepreneur Awards in 2012 and winning the Most Eco-Friendly Startup at TechVenture 2012. Since 2013, Intraix has also penetrated into the Japanese Home Energy Management Solutions (HEMS) market in Tokyo, Kansai and Okinawa by signing a contract with Japanese smart technology company Smart Integration.
Moving forward, Bryan’s and Darrell’s vision for Intraix remains the same – to achieve energy savings via the intelligent use of data. In 2015, they will be rolling out their next product, Klüg - a smart thermostat which can intelligently and passively reduce energy consumption within households, bringing about greater convenience and thermal comfort. The company is also looking at entry into the Latin America Market with its channel partners.
Today, Intraix has grown to a team of nine and has moved its headquarters back to Blk71 vicinity, at Launchpad@One-North in April 2015.
