About the Programme

The list of updated companies will be provided to students after you have been selected and only during the placement period to indicate your preference.

Respective NOC programme managers will source for the internship companies and arrange the interviews accordingly. However, if you have a company in mind, you can discuss it with the respective programme managers so that they could get in touch with the company on your behalf.

Full Year Programme (1-year)
Students should have completed 4 semesters of study and/or individually gained about 80 modular credits at the point of departure and MUST have at least one remaining semester of study upon return to NUS without exceeding their maximum candidature.
 
Short Programme (6 months)
Undergraduate students should have obtained about 80 modular credits for NOC Israel / Beijing 6-month at the point of departure. Graduate students should have completed at least one semester of studies at NUS at the point of departure for NOC Lausanne / Munich / Israel.

NOC Singapore (7 months)
Students should have completed 2 semesters of study and/or individually gained about forty modular credits (40MCs) at the start of the internship.

NOC SE Asia (3 months)
Students should have completed 2 semesters of study and/or individually gained about forty modular credits (40MCs) at the start of the internship.
 
Note: All students on NOC programme MUST have at least one remaining semester of study on upon return to NUS without exceeding their maximum candidature.

Students may count the internship to their NUS degree requirement as approved by their respective faculty.
 
Undergraduate students from FoE and SoC can use NOC programme to fulfill their Industrial Attachment (IA) that is worth 12 modular credits. 

The Full Year Programme is financially neutral. Students selected for the programme continue to pay regular tuition fees to NUS for the duration of the programme. At the same time, you are paid a monthly stipend by their internship company. Students however are expected to incur differing levels of personal monthly expenditure, depending on your destination, as costs of living differ across the respective colleges.

NUS Overseas Colleges will provide the following:

  • Tuition fees for approved entrepreneurship and discipline-based courses at the overseas college
  • Consulting professor appointed to supervise student on internship
  • Basic medical insurance
  • Return economy air ticket and cost of Visa application (except for US colleges)

Students need to pay:

  • Your regular tuition and other miscellaneous fees to NUS
  • Regular overseas living expenses
  • Additional expenses incurred for interest/recreational activities

You will be called upon for an update interview in Jan/Feb or Aug/Sep period depending on your intake. While you do not need to resubmit an application, you must bring along any updated documents and transcript to the interview.
 
NOC will provide all the details of the update interview to you via email so please make sure you check your NUS mailbox regularly.
 
If there are any adverse material changes in your circumstances and/or performance, NOC may require additional information to evaluate your application further and NOC reserve the right to withdraw this conditional offer.

Yes, you can change the college choice but will be subjected to NOC’s review.

Eligibility - Full Year Programme (1-year)

  • Students should be enrolled in full-time NUS undergraduate courses.
  • Students should have completed 4 semesters of study and/or individually gained about 80 modular credits at the point of departure and MUST have at least one remaining semester of study upon return to NUS without exceeding their maximum candidature.
  • First year undergraduate students are welcome to apply for this programme. You will be part of the "Friends of NOC" programme where you can learn more about the programme and you will be informed of the interview dates at a later time.
  • Students are allowed to fulfill Industrial Attachments (IA) or internship modules or Final Year Project (FYP) using NOC programme, however, subject to NOC's and Faculty's approval.
  • Students of Chinese nationality are not eligible to apply for NOC Beijing or NOC Shanghai.
Eligibility - Short Programme (6 months)
  • Students should be enrolled in full-time NUS undergraduate or graduate courses.
  • Undergraduate students should have obtained about 80 modular credits at the point of departure and MUST have at least one remaining semester of study upon return to NUS without exceeding their maximum candidature.
  • Graduate students should have completed at least one semester of studies at NUS at the point of departure and can go on NOC during the last semester of their study in NUS, subject to meeting their graduation requirements and home faculty's approval.
  • First year undergraduate students are welcome to apply for this programme. You will be part of the "Friends of NOC" programme where you can learn more about the programme and you will be informed of the interview dates at a later time.
  • Students of Chinese nationality are not eligible to apply for NOC Beijing.
  • NOC Lausanne and NOC Munich are ONLY open for January intake and ONLY applicable for postgraduate students from the Faculty of Engineering and the School of Computing.
Eligibility - NOC Singapore (7 months)
  • Students should be enrolled in full-time NUS undergraduate courses.
  • First year undergraduate students are welcome to apply for this programme. You will be part of the "Friends of NOC" programme where you can learn more about the programme and you will be informed of the interview dates at a later time.
  • Students should have completed 2 semesters of study and/or individually gained about forty modular credits (40MCs) at the start of the internship.
  • Students should have at least one remaining semester after the end of the programme.
  • Students are allowed to fulfill Internship Attachments (IA) or internship modules using NOC programme, however, subject to Faculty's approval.
Eligibility - NOC SE Asia (3 months)
  • 3 months internship from May to August.
  • Students should be enrolled in full-time NUS undergraduate courses.
  • First year undergraduate students are welcome to apply for this programme. You will be part of the "Friends of NOC" programme where you can learn more about the programme and you will be informed of the interview dates at a later time.
  • Students should have completed 2 semesters of study and/or individually gained about 40 modular credits at the start of the internship.
  • Students should have at least one remaining semester after the end of the programme.
  • Students are allowed to fulfill Internship Attachments (IA) or internship modules using NOC programme, however, subject to Faculty's approval.

Submission of testimonials is recommendable before attend interview. However, you can submit your testimonials within a week after your interview. Please approach your referees to write at least 2 testimonials for you and you can upload the recommendation letters or testimonials through NOC's application portal. 

If your referees prefer to submit the testimonials in confidence to NOC, they can send the testimonials to nocapplication@nus.edu.sg and indicate your name and matriculation number in the email.

Students must be in NUS, Singapore for the semester before embarking on NOC during the next semester and not overseas on SEP because NOC office will be conducting briefings, and etc for all out-going students i.e. if you are embarking on the July intake, you will have to be present in Singapore (taking classes in NUS) from Jan to July before heading out to the respective overseas college.
 

Students on scholarships must check with their scholarship administrators or providers first on their eligibility to participate in the NOC before applying. Selected candidates will however only be permitted to embark on this programme after meeting the eligibility criteria.

No, students MUST have at least one remaining semester of study back in NUS upon completing NOC programme.

The six-months NOC Israel, Beijing, Lausanne and Munich programmes are open to both undergraduates and postgraduates. However, NOC Lausanne and NOC Munich are ONLY open for January intake and ONLY applicable for postgraduate students from the Faculty of Engineering and the School of Computing.

Students from medical faculty will need to consult your faculty regarding your participation in NOC programme as you have an intensive medical curriculum and compulsory modules that you are required to fulfill within a specific number of years.
